Giant Bicycle recalls LED-light keys that came with some SureLock bike lock sets
October 8, 2026 ยท Source: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
What it is
The recall covers the LED-light key included with certain SureLock Bicycle Lock sets. These sets were sold at authorized Giant Bicycle stores nationwide and online at https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us from March 2023 through August 2026, for between $25 and $65.
The hazard
Children can easily get to the button batteries in the key. If swallowed, button batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death. The packaging and key also lack the warnings required under Reese's Law.
Check if you own it
Look for a SureLock Bicycle Lock set that came with an LED-light key. The lock itself and any keys without a light are not part of the problem.
What to do
Stop using the LED-light key right away and contact Giant Bicycle for a $5 refund. To get it, bring the LED key to an authorized Giant retailer. Bring either the complete bike lock you bought or a picture of the serial number on the lock, so the store can confirm it is covered by the recall. You can keep using the bike lock and the non-LED keys. Button and coin batteries are hazardous, so dispose of or recycle them by following local hazardous waste procedures.
